• Check the Water Supply - Confirm that the ice maker has a water supply and that the water supply line is connected and not kinked or blocked.

• The Icemaker Arm - The most common reason is a broken or missing icemaker arm. When the ice bin is full, the ice pushes the arm upwards, turning off the icemaker.
• Defective Ice Level Sensor - Modern icemakers may use optical or infrared sensors to detect the ice level. The infrared beam passes through the ice bin. When the bin is full, the ice interrupts the beam, and the icemaker stops producing ice.

If your icemaker is leaking water, it may be due to several reasons, and it's important to address the issue quickly to prevent water damage. Here are some common causes of water leakage from an icemaker and suggestions for how to fix them.

• Leaky Ice Maker Assembly - The ice maker might start dripping water, causing solid ice to build up inside the ice bin. The only solution is to replace the icemaker.
• Frozen Water Fill Tube - If the fill tube is blocked with ice due to a defective water inlet valve, the water pressure will disconnect the water line on the back of the refrigerator, causing a water leak.
• Ice Maker Is Overfilling - When your icemaker is overfilling with water, ice builds up inside the ice bin and lower shelves in the freezer. Check the water inlet valve, as that is the most common reason the ice maker overfills with water.

Most stand-alone icemakers use a drain pump to drain the water. When the pump stops working due to a defective float switch or a kinked hose, water starts pooling inside the unit. First, check all the hoses, including the drain hose, for kinks or other blockages that might disrupt water drainage. In most cases, the drain pump is the issue, so it needs to be replaced.
