Oven Won't Turn Off

Oven Repair San Diego

If your gas or electric oven won't turn off after you used it, first you need to do is to disconnect the power supply. You can either unplug the oven from the wall outlet or just flip the circuit breaker off. Oven will not turn off mostly because of the faulty oven temperature control (thermostat) or Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Oven Thermostat

Oven thermostat is responsible for controlling the temperature of your oven. If thermostat is shorted out or maybe stuck, the oven will not turn off. To fix the problem, oven thermostat needs to be replaced.

Electronic Oven Control

Has a same function as the oven thermostat. The only difference is that ERC is used in combination with oven sensor to read and maintain the temperature inside the oven. Shorted or stuck relay on the ERC will cause oven not to turn off. We can sometimes solve that problem by disconnecting power supply to the oven for a few minutes. Reconnecting the oven to the electricity again might reset the EOC.
